How to Style the Neon Blazer Series: Jagger Circus

S
Neon Blazer Style: Jagger Circus

The only way for a bright yellow blazer to NOT make you look like a walking banana or a shorter version of Big Bird is to match it with some classic Rock n Roll. But hey, not that there's anything wrong with looking like a banana - I just don't sway that way.

And the most important thing you will learn in today's lesson:
Mick Jagger can fix everything.

If you've been following my style posts lately on Lookbook.nu and here on my blog... you will now know I have a little crush on all things Neon. You guys seem to like the neon thang too so I thought I'd start a little "How to Style the Neon Blazer Series" with a couple of different ways you could try wearing it via my fave virtual styling site Polyvore

The first idea I've gone for is something for every day, where the neon pink blazer is basically the only pop of colour (except the awesome yellow nails inspired by Seal on The Voice Australia).

Well, it's my birthday week (officially started August 21st)! And I'm celebrating at Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival, a gig with my band, indulging in more of my $10,000 wardrobe from Market HQ and a weekend getaway to Radelaide with my bestie... Phew!

This is what I wore to the opening night of Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney, which is a horrible place to spend your birthday! (I'll have a dedicated blog post about MBFF next week sometime.) Anyways, here's a little look at some instagram action over this birthday week of mine - you can follow me and the rest of the week's shenanigans under @morganjoanel

Breakfast Bellini's @ Chianti Classico, Adelaide                                                 Birthday breakfast in bed by the BF!!

Neon Clash of the Licorice All-Sort Kind

S

Shirt: Sportsgirl   |   Blazer: Staple The Label @ Market HQ   |   Chain Glove: MojoMade - available online here

I've been dreaming of the day when I could wear bright, neon, clashing colours and not feel like a candy shop - though I'll admit, a pair of black pants with this outfit would have made me a walking licorice-all-sort.. Hence my new style mantra was born...

"If the pants make you look like a walking idiot - opt for no pants."

I can hear my mum's voice in the back of my mind uttering some kind of old saying like "pink and green should never be seen"...  But finally - the day of the clashing colours, clashing prints and splashes of neon and tie-day are back in all their glory! All hail to the Rainbow Brite's out there walking the streets, avenging the dull greys of the world!

Although the neon trend has been growing and buzzing for quite a while now, I wanted to find the right combination of pieces before unleashing it's brazen assault on any onlooker's eye... I don't want anyone getting dizzy or vomiting from seeing all this fabulous clash. I've had this Sportsgirl shirt for quite a while now and bought a size too big so I could get away with it as both a shirt and a shirt-dress... I hadn't found the way to really make it pop, until this ridiculously gorgeous washed silk, neon pink blazer from Staple The Label came into my life.

The only risk you run with these bold statement pieces is over-wearing them... I mean, no one gonna forget a hot pink blazer walking in the room no matter how many different things you wear it with. Have a look at some more amazing Staple The Label pieces at my fave online store Market HQ.

PS. When I was looking for an image of licorice all sorts, I found a divine recipe for Licorice All-Sort Slice on Taste.com.au - Let me know if you make it I'll be trying it out soon!

Moroccan Dreams of Neon | Via Polyvore

Moroccan Dreams of Neon

Nothing makes me more excited about spring than the idea of bright colours against bronzed skin and muted gold... And this whole neon trend is sweeping me right off my feet into some Moroccan dream of sailing on crystal seas with cocktail in hand!

And there's nothing like a headache, blocked nose and feeling poo to make you wish for the sun and parties that come with summer! And of course with that comes bare legs and bikinis - eeeek! So, I'm kicking my ass into gear (gym / home juicing / DIY skin-care remedies etc) as of right now!

So beware MojoMaders - many recipes for smoothies, face masks, (healthy??) cupcakes and neon-inspired blog posts coming your way! Bring on SUMMER BABY!!
