White Dress, White Dress

MojoMade Crystal Necklace   |   Dress: Three of Something   |   Vintage Necklace @ U-Turn, Surry Hills

I'm not so much of a girly girl - for reasons I have not worked out yet - but I have to say, I do love a white lacey dress. Especially when paired with a pair of black boots and black accessories. It's the one thing that no-matter-what, if I see one, I buy it. Then I get home to hang said girly white lacey dress in my wardrobe and realise I have another one just like it. And when I say one, I mean six. It's turning into an epidemic.

However, when I saw this Three of Something dress hanging amongst all the other summer beauties at the Park Avenue PR showroom - it basically jumped off the rack and into my arms. I couldn't resist it - and I really don't have anything like it. No, really.

And you know what those gorgeous ladies at Park Avenue PR did? They gave me the dress because they heard that I had a load of washing stolen from my clothes line in the backyard.

Don't you just love when a negative turns into positive?
Or in my case, another girly white lacey dress.

Did you know that many blind people are able to differentiate colours by passing their fingers or hands over an object, actually feeling the quality of the colour? Pretty amazing, right?

Colours energies and all the psychology that goes along with it totally fascinates me and from time to time I find myself exploring the subject a little more. At the moment I am completely surrounded by orange (which may explain why I want to eat all the time - apparently orange stimulates the appetite!). My Mac-book cover is orange and so is my iPad cover. I have orange lamps in the house and am on a never-ending search for orange clothing! I can't explain it... Or can I?

Since I got together with my man six years ago, I've had a growing attraction to the colour orange and in researching my new colour crush I came across the book Colour Energy by Inger Naess. It turns out that in the colour world, I am VIOLET and he is ORANGE

In reading about what all this colour stuff means, I've discovered a bunch of reasons why I'm so attracted to the colour orange (and my boy) so much...

The color psychology of orange is optimistic and uplifting, rejuvenating our spirit.
Orange brings spontaneity and a positive outlook on life
With its enthusiasm for life, the color orange relates to adventure and risk-taking, inspiring physical confidence, competition and independence. Those inspired by orange are always on the go!
Orange aids in the assimilation of new ideas and frees the spirit of its limitations, giving us the freedom to be ourselves.

SO! Put some orange in your life when you want:
            • to spice things up when you feel time is dragging
            • to become more involved in something
            • to increase creativity
            • relief from things becoming too serious

If you're interested in exploring colour energies more, I suggest looking here, here, and here.

Off To The Races

Well it's that time of the year when sunshine and champagne go hand in hand with hats, horses, fashion and throwing your money down. I for one, am a huge fan of the big hat and a bold print - I like the idea of doing something different when all the other girls are wearing dresses. A bright and warm day at the races is what I had in mind when putting this look together for my "Blogger's Edit" feature I recently did with The Iconic Magazine (Spring Issue is out now). And I am obsessed with these Cooper St pants - if I could sleep in them, I would. Let the spring racing season begin!

"Now I'm off to the races, cases
of Bacardi chasers,
chasin' me all over town
'cause he knows I'm wasted, facin'
time again at Riker's
Island and I won't get out..."

Penny Lane Goes to Morocco

A one day stop back in Sydney between Byron Bay and Melbourne shows on my national tour - Blair and I spent the morning at our favourite coffee hole in Sydney - Bay 88 in Rushcutters Bay. We had been like passing ships in the night with me on the road and Blair filming his first feature film (more to come on that later). Making plans and enjoying the shelter on the craziest spring day (complete with rain AND hail!) we couldn't resist taking a few snaps out the back of the cafe surrounded by the incredible orange staircase. (So apologies for the iPhone images).

Every time I wander past the back door of the cafe and see these glorious walls - I instantly feel a rush of excitement and wanderlust. I think it conjures up feelings of Morocco. My house is slowly filling up with orange, turquoise and purple combinations, which I'm taking as a subconcious plea to get on a plane and spend a year in Morocco. Something about the colours speak volumes to my psyche - and if we're talking colour energies, well that's a whole other story.

For now I'll just visit the orange staircase, fill my little cave with gypset desires and live vicariously through Penny Lane from Almost Famous.

"I've made a decision, I'm gonna live in Morocco for one year. I need a new crowd. Do you wanna come?"

Crucifix ring and incredible crystal glove cuff are little treasures from Byron Bay at Spell and the Gypsy Collective.
