I always wanted to grow up to be a hippie, frolicking in the park. Now that I have this bewitchingly bohemian dress [For Love and Lemons], fool's gold crystal ring and hipster triangle accessories from Lotus Mendes and House of Harlow 1960 - well my friends, that day has come.

If you need me, I'll be outside meditating... or hugging a tree.

I Believe in Accessories

I believe in accessories. Clearly.

I think you can make an old outfit feel brand new with the choice of the right accessories. You can wear jewelry over and over again and it really doesn't matter. I was going through my jewelry drawer (yes drawer) and found this leather lace-up cuff that I got about 10 years ago. It was always something I loved but hardly ever wore - so glad I found it

That's why accessories are so important - just like a LBD... They last forever and you can always turn to an old favourite to make you feel good. They're like warrior-armour! Accessories can make or break the outfit and can always put a new spin on the old.

Now I want to go shopping.
For more accessories.
Like I need them?!?!

I Saw a UFO

I don't often wear a skirt - let alone a little skater skirt in all it's party-dress-fullness. I always imagine being out and think "What if shit gets crazy and I wanna jump on someones back? I can't do that in a skirt."

But let's be honest, you can't go your whole life only wearing no pants and shorts - so if you're going dress like a pre-schooler you may as well go for something that's black and looks like leather. This baby is Paint It Red and I picked it up from Market HQ.

Mother and Father PR let me raid their incredibly colourful closet and, being a psychedelic enthusiast I couldn't go past the stunning Fairground UFO bodysuit in all it's swirly, rainbow Paddle-Pop goodness. Which now that I think about it, would go awesome with short shorts. Hehe

PS. I seriously had to fight the urge to put on some bunny ears à la Playboy thanks to the HTOM collar and cuff - haha. Now please excuse me while I go light some incense and trip out to The Doors. Whist eating aforementioned Paddle Pop.

How Do You Define Freedom?

I feel like the Statue of Liberty in this spiked headband. Albeit a One Teaspoon-clad-crop-topped-hipster-triangle-wearing-1990's version of her. It got me thinking about freedom and liberty and I found myself asking the question:

HOW DO YOU DEFINE FREEDOM?

For some it would be a day without war - others, a day at the beach. Some want to be outside of prison walls and others want to escape the walls they've put up. A simple chance to speak your mind and be heard is a freedom most of us have but would you consider yourself free? I just read a quote of Joan Collins' in this month's Frankie...

"Show me a person who has never made a mistake, and I'll show you a person who has never achieved much"

I think at this moment, my own greatest freedom is allowing myself to make mistakes and not caring, not stopping and not worrying. To judge yourself (or others) on mistakes of the past will only keep you trapped. It's so much more fun to be able to look back and laugh at yourself than to look back in disappointment.

So let yourself go and be free :)

There's something indescribable about the feeling you get when you face your fears front on.
Most people think you've only got two choices:

Stand still like a deer in the headlights, blinded by the unknown
or
Run away.

BUT you could opt for choice number 3 - just get your shit together and charge right at your fears. Because they're just in your head. You made them up!!  I'll tell you a secret - there's no such thing as good or bad things in live. There's just things in life. It's up to you if you wanna cry about it or not. I choose or not.

So if you have some secret little thing you've always wanted to do - fucking do it! The truth is nobody else cares about what you're doing anyway they just care about themselves. So make yourself happy and in turn everyone will be happy. Don't waste your life dreaming about things that [you think] have passed you by - just take each moment for what it is, good, bad, ugly, amazing... AND CATCH YOUR DREAMS.

Oh, and NEVER let your teachers, friends, parents, associates or "people with experience" EVER tell you that you won't make it. Start listening to the people who have done what you want to do - I bet they each have a completely unique story of how they made it - and you will too.

RANT OVER.

City Scapes & Paris Dreams

Top: House of Wilde   |   Leather Collar: How Typical of Metal   |   Shorts: One Teaspoon   |    Tights: Shop With Romi   |   Crop: Mink Pink   |   Triangle Necklace: Lotus Mendes

All I wanna do is have some fun go to Paris!
I don't think the funky little township featured on this House of Wilde poncho style top is part of the Kingdon of France but I'm going to pretend it is. Now I wanna go... And I'll be wearing the hell outta this killer leather studded collar - thanks to Mother and Father PR for introducing me to the incredibly hot How Typical of Metal.

I studied art history for my TEE in high school and saw Monet up close when some of his collection traveled to Perth years ago (man, they always get the best stuff! Bahaha) And I've always imagined giving everything up to become a poet and a painter, living in Moulin Rouge style bohemia.

I'd spend my days wandering the River Seine, soaking up the magic at The Louvre, snacking on macaroons and cigarettes. By suppertime, me and my artist friends Salvador Dali and Camille Pissarro would watch the sun set from a clifftop, drinking Champagne. I'm not 100% sure if Leonardo Da Vinci got the memo but I hope he comes, he's a great conversationalist with his crazy ideas of helicopters and calculators - what a hoot!

Guess I'd better get back to reality - recording my new EP.
Wait, that's not so bad after all!

Have fun dreaming the weekend away x
