Control Minds

Maxi Skirt: Free People   |   Top: UNIF @ Market HQ   |   Boots: BooHoo c/o Park Avenue PR
Necklace: Recreational   |   Triangle Ring: Lotus Mendes

Sometimes things don't turn out exactly how you want. But sometimes the things you think you missed out on are the things that make you see the other side. They make you see around the corner.
And other times it's all bullshit anyway.

Live wild and be free.
Don't let your mind be controlled - but be in control of your mind.
You dig?

I'm building a healthy little collection of maxi skirts lately, and I'm in love with the ethereal darkness of my new Free People maxi - great for this horrible humid weather at the moment. Lets your legs be all free and wild haha. And if you've lost count, I've now got 4 of these UNIF tanks - different prints - which see me through every 'I-need-something-to-throw-on-that-will-be-instantly-awesome' moment. As for the boots - they're a dream find from BooHoo thanks to Park Avenue PR who helped me change up my feet style this week :)

I always wanted to grow up to be a hippie, frolicking in the park. Now that I have this bewitchingly bohemian dress [For Love and Lemons], fool's gold crystal ring and hipster triangle accessories from Lotus Mendes and House of Harlow 1960 - well my friends, that day has come.

If you need me, I'll be outside meditating... or hugging a tree.

Market HQ: Design A Tote Competition

S

Oh, how I love a good creative competition! Market HQ have a pretty good track record with awesome giveaways (I may be a little biased since I won a $10,000 wardrobe from them earlier this year) but this one is right up there! Just for creating a unique design you could win a $500 MHQ voucher, Lomo Camera AND your design all over the signature MHQ tote bag for summer!

I wanted to let you guys know about this because since I've been showing you my own art, I've had lots of lovely emails from people saying they've been inspired to get more creative. So this is a great chance to stretch your artistic legs!

On the other hand, if you just wanna watch from afar and want to share some Facebook love [the comp works with "likes" on FB]... I'll lead you to a great starting point - this incredible piece entered by striking artist Rachel Urquhart of one of my fave blogs, Pony Gold
I know I would want this on my tote!

"Bad Mood Rising" - by Rachel Urquhart - click here to give her a vote!

And good luck if you get an entry in yourself! xx

We've all had those moments when you look back and ask yourself "What was I thinking?" Whether it's fashion choices or boyfriends - haha - there will always be things you can't escape from your past. Some friendships and relationships are just snapshots in time.

There are people who will only ever know a fragmented version of you because the situation or relationship only allows you to show half of your colours. And so time and distance goes on and they will never see your full spectrum... And you will remain a faded imprint on their memory.

Some people will cement you as your teenage self or secure you in your early twenties, thinking you'll always be that way. And that's sad because it just means that they're stuck there themselves. But I bet it's those very people that played the biggest part in making you who you are today. If you were bullied, if you were heart-broken, if you were ever made to feel worthless... You can thank those people for pushing you into uncomfortable places that forced you to soul-search. I've been there.

But real friends love you like family - it's unconditional. They listen to the problems without rolling their eyes. They reach out to you when you're alone. They ask if you're OK. They stand by you when you're taking risks. They back you up. And they allow you to grow.

So hold on to the ones who really care, in the end they'll be the only one's there :) I love my peeps.

I Saw a UFO

Bodysuit: Fairground  |   Skirt: Paint It Red @ Market HQ   |   Collar & Cuff: How Typical of Metal   |   Triangle Cuff: Lotus Mendes

I don't often wear a skirt - let alone a little skater skirt in all it's party-dress-fullness. I always imagine being out and think "What if shit gets crazy and I wanna jump on someones back? I can't do that in a skirt."

But let's be honest, you can't go your whole life only wearing no pants and shorts - so if you're going dress like a pre-schooler you may as well go for something that's black and looks like leather. This baby is Paint It Red and I picked it up from Market HQ.

Mother and Father PR let me raid their incredibly colourful closet and, being a psychedelic enthusiast I couldn't go past the stunning Fairground UFO bodysuit in all it's swirly, rainbow Paddle-Pop goodness. Which now that I think about it, would go awesome with short shorts. Hehe

PS. I seriously had to fight the urge to put on some bunny ears à la Playboy thanks to the HTOM collar and cuff - haha. Now please excuse me while I go light some incense and trip out to The Doors. Whist eating aforementioned Paddle Pop.
