Overnight Oats & The Wild Unknown

This morning, I woke up to some overnight oats (mojo ingredients below) and organic hot chocolate... Took a walk around the harbour with my pup Memphis, soaking up the sun. I came home and spent the morning with my journal, some words and some art doodled over the pages.

Whisper stardust into the air.
Shake lust into the wild unknown.



Oats
Almond Milk
Loving Earth Organic Raw Cacao Powder
Banana
Apple
Organic Jam / Fruit Spread
Sunflower Seeds
Chia Seeds
Pine-nuts
Coconut
Cinnamon

Just smash all this together - to taste - and refrigerate overnight.
Eat cold in the morning. Or warm it up. Whatevs.
Amaze-balls.

Band T-Shirt Project | Featuring Arcane Saints [Aus]

I recently finished another project for my little MojoMade Band T-Shirt Project... This time for Melbourne based band Arcane Saints. It was cool to do something more hard edged when it comes to the design [Arcane Saints are a mixture of classic metal, blues and grunge]. It's also the first project where I've worked a logo actually into the art-piece.

Check the boys out if you get a chance - before they head to Nashville to record their album with legendary producer Toby Wright who's worked with Metallica, Alice in Chains, Korn, Kiss and Ozzy. Pretty good company right?!

With the rumours of Jeff Martin being the late Jim Morrison re-incarnated, you can imagine my attraction to this project. A chance to flex my love of mystical surrealism matched up with the luscious voice and epic energy that is Jeff Martin. You may also know him from The Tea Party.



Here's a look at the design process of how I created the artwork.

 

Sketching the first ideas...

 Original design was planned for black print on white - but we opted for a charcoal material and white print in the end. Something I hadn't tried before but looks even better - especially for this design.

 Sharpie Anything But Paper Challenge #1

The awesome peeps from Sharpie sent me a little care package full of textas and a baby canvas to create something for the Sharpie Anything But Paper Project and after a long night of colouring in, here's my final piece! 

The music playing in the background is a demo song I wrote a while back, called Love Don't Suit Me.

I love to make things... You may have guessed that by now *rolls eyes* And I love to make artworks that on first glance may not make sense but a closer look will reveal a story made from some kind of magic energy. I've always been enamored by the works of Salvador Dali and the surrealism movement - after all why would you want to live in the real world when you could disappear into the surreal?!

 

So when I say I'm just living out my 8-year-old-self's dream... I mean it literally. I spend my days making music, dressing up and colouring in.  I don't think it gets any better than this and I feel pretty lucky!

 

A blank canvas means anything is possible.

 

Sketching out some ideas

I especially love the flick-tip "brush" Sharpies that allow you to feather your strokes out more like a paintbrush. Genius!

Neon & Print on the Streets of Fremantle

Last month I spent a few weeks in my hometown of Perth - mostly checking out Fremantle and drinking coffee at Moore & Moore. The little cafe doesn't have a line out the door each lunch-time just because of it's incredible coffee... The food is ridiculous - I had to try the tappas plate (above) a couple of times - you know, to make sure it wasn't just once-off-amazeness.... haha.

BUT, Moore & Moore is also an art gallery - showcasing some stunning artists in the old, high-ceiling, maybe-this-place-used-to-be-a-jail type vibe that Freo has going for it... I couldn't get enough of the beautiful works by Anya Brock. You can check more of her stuff out here.
